“It is not down in any map; true places never are.” ~ Herman Melville

We arrived in Costa Rica today! It was an easy but long day of travel. St. Louis to Miami to San Jose … And then the real challenge began … 5 hours in the car, deeper and deeper into this beautiful and strange country. We kept forgetting to get a map and that we speak no Spanish. Eventually the rain forests showed their true colors and we found ourselves in a tropical storm with no directions to our hotel.

Eventually we found it in all its splendor. I can’t wait to see it in the daylight.

So far, it is much more light hearted traveling after ten years of marriage than after 2 days.

Grace- I am hoping to see a sloth. I hope it happens tomorrow so I can check it off the list you made me. Thank you for the package of thoughtful things!

Max- We saw a big group of boys playing soccer in the huge rainstorm. I think you would have liked to play too!

For now, pictures for my lovlies…find the two parrots in the tree, lots of crocs and the rain at our hotel:
