We live only to discover beauty. All else is a form of waiting. ~Kahlil Gibran

Today I am grateful for the end of a week and these things:

This family sabbath on a Friday night. We were cranky and not moving well from the busy week to a restful evening and weekend. We lit a candle and said this prayer to welcome the sabbath and attitudes were changed. No joke. Well, mine was. Can’t speak for those two urchins.

Great Harvest Bread in downtown Kirkwood. We get all of our bread here and they are lovely folk. The shop, the bread, and the people bring joy to our life. Again, these are the people in the neighborhood, the people that you meet when you’re walking down the street, the people that you greet each day! I also have advance gratitude that I will soon join them as a baker-for-the-day. Oh, boy!!!

This swimmer. A small part of her resists going to most practices. A big part of her works really hard at every one. The water and the workout change her. She emerges lighter and freer and chatty and standing taller. And repeat.
