“If they ever come up with a swashbuckling school, I think one of the courses should be Laughing, Then Jumping Off Something” ~Jack Handy
I haven’t had a chance until now to write this post, but I’m doing it quickly because it needs to be done. During our holiday trip to KC, we played a game called Wits and Wagers. In essence, a question is asked, the players write down their answer and then everyone bets on which answer is closest without going over. The discussions are fun and Amy usually has the best answer.
I don’t remember which question brought up this particular discussion, but Dan stated that he could long jump 25 feet. Of course we all cracked up and Rob encouraged Dan to show us. So our last wager of the night was how far Dan could long jump. We went outside (9pm, Dec 26th), he did a few practice jumps (there was a lot of tumbling around), the family set up the course and measurments and he got 13 feet. I think the world record is over 30 feet. Dan has so much more fun with Rob’s egging-on than I ever did. I hope this is a good thing in whatever business venture they explore!

This is a great story! How would you feel about allowing us to use it on our website?
Cheers!

I’d love that! How did you find it so quickly?
Let me know if you need any other info.
Thanks,

The Wite & Wagers question was: “What’s the world record in the long jump?” Someone said 15 feet and I claimed that I must be the record holder then, since I routinely jump further than that. Turns out I don’t, but at least I didn’t hurt myself trying. I think Vicki guessed the closest (as usual, she had me sized up pretty well). My own wife had me at 6 feet, which I could do simply by falling over. Sheesh.
